How not to Cover Generosity of Spirit |
|
I just watched an elderly Japanese man speaking with a BBC reporter. In typical Japanese fashion he said that 56 countries were coming to help them.
I switches to CNN and they were interviewing one of the US army personnel who had just arrived to help. It would be nice if CNN and the rest of M$Greedia realize that this is not about them. M$Greedia would serve a better purpose if they showed us everyone arriving to help and stop pretending that only America is helping. They did the same shit in Haiti last year.

1. Narcissism: "it's about ME" |
|
It's running rampant these days.
After a period of very low contact with DU, I'm seeing a heightened narcissism even here. The thin-skinned and personal attackers seem hell-bent to collide and feud. Few threads seem immune. "Discussion" seems to almost immediately deteriorate to the level of "so's your mom." Where's the DUzy when we need it?

9. Koreans were the first to arrive (Search and Rescue) |
|
the Brits (80+ personnel + Dogs), arrived yesterday. The Aussies and Kiwis are on the way. BBCWorld TV is showing many of those preparing/arriving and gives regular reports of who's going there and what they are bringing/sending.
Like this one: # 1742: Meanwhile, offers of help to the Japanese government have been pouring in from across the world. Even the poor southern Afghan city of Kandahar is chipping in - its mayor has said it is donating $50,000 to the "brothers and sisters" of Japan. "I know $50,000 is not a lot of money for a country like Japan, but it is a show of appreciation from the Kandahar people," Ghulam Haidar Hamidi told the news agency.
