Murkowski backs Planned Parenthood
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/51155.html

" Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has come out in opposition to the House’s attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, making her the first Republican senator to specifically support the beleaguered organization.

“I believe Planned Parenthood provides vital services to those in need and disagree with their funding cuts in the bill,” Murkowski wrote in a letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Vice Chairman Thad Cochran (R-Miss.). “I ask you to consider these programs going forward to determine if there is room for allowing continued funding.”

Gee, I guess there are republican women who do realize what the republican party is trying to do to women

Which brings me to the point, why would any women be a republican in the first place?

1. I wish I could answer that about women...
The Republican party that was existent in my college years was light years left of the joke of a party that is represented today by cold, souless, vapid females.

There was a time when civil and intelligent discourse (albeit passionate) could be carried out on varying degrees of support of women's rights. There will always be differences of opinion. Those who came a generation before me put up the real fight. They were the courageous ones. I followed on their coat tails, proudly, but a bit humbled by their bravery and intelligence.

Men's views I can tolerate more(small smile) because in truth they will never KNOW what it is to be a female in this society. They are handicapped in a way that nature, not experience, controls. Those who are compassionate and caring are incredibly valuable and respected in woman's fight for control over her own body. The more we control our own, the more we are willing to sincerely share with our fellow human males!

The contempt for the living woman that some other women embrace is uglier, to me, than the same attitude expressed by a male. Male dominations, opinions and control come from a totally different core.

Those women who openly and loudly treat other women with distain and hatred and disrespect under the *security blanket* of posing as judgmental, spiritually-guided mentors of our gender are the lowest of the low. They not only want to force a woman to lose personal control, they want to take away any and everything that could help a woman make intelligent decisions on their OWN.

I feel intensely sorry for their shallow and dense outlooks. And I hold them to a higher level of shame. Because they, too, could be easy victims of this extremist Republican/conservative society of hate that we see today.

Many have been brainwashed and could be under the control of either anti-women dogmas, or a lifetime of submissive social upbringing. Many truly believe from their heart where life actually begins and what it is owed. But there are some who just seem to be...fucking MEAN and NASTY towards their gender.

If a woman truly believes that she would never abort a child...then she shouldn't. If she faces that unfortunate choice, I would wish her all the strength to get through it. And support her personal wishes. Period. If she believes she should have every access to contraception, prevention and correction to avoid putting herself in a position of HAVING to make that choice, she should take it, Period.

Intelligence and educated CHOICE are not harmful.

But if a woman feels that she has a right to loudly demean and prohibit and villify ANY/ALL other woman for making personal decisions about their own bodies, then that female is OUT OF LINE and should back-up, shut-up and live their own life as they see personally fit... avoiding those things they so openly trash about others.

There is more destruction and wretchedness going on about the persecution, *punishment* and labeling of women who daily face the personal choices of having children (under any circumstance) than there is in making the choice to send an unwanted or possibly unhealthy child into the world (or back to its maker for another chance, another time).

There is more strength and dignity in quiet, private, personal ownership of one's body and choices than there is in thousands of boisterous, accusatory blabberings about controling ANY WOMAN'S right to CHOOSE, and most specifically her right to use intelligence and thoughtful programs/proceedures to educate herself towards that end.

2. Republican woman syndrome:

"I am chosen/blessed/special to be chosen to work with men on issues of importance to the world. This is not true of the rest of you. I can benefit from the gains of the feminist movement - a decent salary, the ability to even apply for certain jobs, equal opportunities in education, childcare when I choose a career, the ability to plan my family, etc. However, the rest of you should not aspire to this, because you are not capable."
