just met with @GovWalker in Wisconsin. He will sign reform bill today that will liberate WS gov workers from paying $600-$1000 annual dues.

I wonder if Walker gave him a pen?

2. Insanity of the right wing is reinforced by their pride in stonewalling -- not blinking -- !!
However, we know that one way of another -- thru either human activity or

nature's response -- these right wingers will be forced to face the destructiveness

of their actions --

unfortunately, at that point, they will take us all with them!!

6. What percentage of Wisconsin public workers...
...will now withhold paying union dues? Yes, there is a lot of solidarity at the moment, but I've got to think this is going to be a massive financial blow to the Wisconsin public sector unions as time goes on.

That is what this is all about, destroying the unions. Walker basically made the union largely worthless in terms of what it could do to represent workers, and at the same time made it possible for people to just quit the union and withhold dues. Since employee's will be responsible for a higher share of their own healthcare and pensions, Walker and the Republicans are probably betting that, over time, a very large percentage of people will quit paying dues and redirect some of that money elsewhere.

If we can't this reverse soon - within the next couple years at the most, this could be effectively be a knockout blow to Wisconsin public sector unions for generations.

7. Their organization and planning
is bearing fruit. Norquist has dedicated his life to the dismantling of this country and it appears he will live to see it. This did not just come about - they have many organizations and media and idiot followers working on this for decades.

8. It is all this "free market" crap.
But there is nothing "free" about it if it is being orchestrated by a few.

10. This is war on political opponents.
Frontal assault on the political forces that defeat Republicans at the polls, plain and simple. Basically, abuse of power.

11. No, it is implementing the libertarian philosophy.
Edited on Sun Mar-13-11 05:21 PM by tabatha
And yes, a side-effect is to get those out of office who will prevent that from happening.

I know a little about the libertarian movement, but some of the pieces are only falling into place now.

Many years ago I first heard about it from someone who was just learning about it and touting it. It was the basis of a book (best seller) written by this person about solutions for South Africa. After buying the book, I was sent literature about the Cato Institute, etc. I did not know who the hell they were, and did not do anything about the brochure. But I did read some of the literature where the aim was to introduce free markets in as many countries as possible. The author of the book recently released a CD that was sent to various countries extolling free market/ libertarian philosophies, and supporting an Indian student who wrote a book along those same lines.

But now I found out they are funded by Koch Bros, and also that the best-seller South African book was also funded by Koch Bros. Norquist is a Libertarian.

Reason magazine was at one time managed by a Libertarian who ended up in the Bush admin for environmental policies.

Libertarianism is like a religion that the believers want to see implemented in all countries no matter how - by fair or foul methods.

People need to wake up to this.

12. It's a trifecta... and the carpet baggers will rape this state like it's never been seen before.
First off, Wisconsin supplies none of it's own raw energy outside of the wind mill farm generation which happens to be in Dodge(Fitzgerald's home district) and Fondulac counties because of more ideal wind conditions.. Koch brothers own 4000 miles of natural gas pipelines, coal distribution, and Georgia Pacific now and who know what services or resources it will provide or own soon.

In energy alone Wisconsin outlays more then 6 billion dollars a year for power... so when Krugman said it was about power he wasn't just kidding. The first thing Walker did when he came into office was to stop the building of a combination bio energy and gas boiler for the UW Madison campus because of short term costs but more likely to inhibit a trend in this states ability to provide it's own raw energy.

Splitting off the UW Madison campus gives WARF (Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation) who patents the discoveries of UW-Madison researchers and licenses those technologies to leading companies in Wisconsin, (you know like Warfarin) it's own little fiefdom, and this ain't chump change, over a Billion to the Madison Campus alone since it's inception. And as a center for bio-engineering the UW Madison campus has yet to bear much fruit and it will bear... orchards worth.

State owned land is some of the last pristine property around and there's a ton of it. Here's just a few parks

Not far from Milwaukee - Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit
A 29,268-acre gift of the glacier--the rolling, wooded landscape is dotted with serene lakes and offers a unique outdoor recreational experience of endless variety.

Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit
The glacier left 21,000 acres of rolling hills and numerous lakes.

Farther North

Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area
Described as "almost Canada," this flowage in Oneida County has a wild flavor. The area has more than 17,000 acres, 73 miles of shoreline, 106 islands, and seven boat landings. Rustic campsites around the shoreline and on the islands offer scenery and solitude. There are abundant walleye and panfish; northern pike, muskellunge, and bass; hunting and hiking opportunities; deer, bear, ruffed grouse, ducks, loons, and wolves.

These are just a few of the many parks and resources Wisconsin owns
http://dnr.wi.gov/Org/land/parks/specific/findapark.htm...

I have no doubt given his choice he'll sell anything he can before we stop him and that it's all ready been divied up amongst the cronies.

14. John is an intelligent guy.... I would think he understands this innately
And I would thin it has been discussed but just not in public. I would imagine waiting to see the contents of Walkers budget was the first priority... how he handles the debt from here who knows. I fully expect the Dem's to leave again until they regain control of the senate and then stall until he's ousted. But you are free to do so if you think it will help.

Walkers action's while Milwaukee county Executive demonstrated these tendencies and now he's a kid in a candy store with his own jet. Expect nothing positive from this administration that will serve the long term benefit of Wisconsin. He will only line the pockets of his career and his friend's wallets of which I am sure he will be a long term benefit there of.

People of Wisconsin my ass. This man cares nothing for the people of Wisconsin. Ole "Desperado" as I understand he was referred to in high school, knows nothing of the people of Wisconsin, but they know him.

16. Is that the same bathtub that Norquist wants to shrink the
Government small enough so that he can drown the Government in?

Now isn't that a happy thought? NO IT IS NOT.

Norquist is an evil person. He and his ilk show the true core values held by the extreme right wing Conservatives. This is not the future that our founding Fathers saw for this nation.
