2. Yes - because Bush would've said "They tried to feed broccoli to my Daddy!"
His father is known to not like broccoli.

20. The broccoli thing was made up.
The background is that the elder Bush at the time was actually having some kind of a conflict with broccoli farmers, and the comment was his classy way of telling them to fuck off and die. Who knows if he actually dislikes broccoli.

23. The conflict was that he banned broccoli on Air Force 1.
Growers sent him truckloads of the stuff and then he made this comment

14. Well, possibly.
I mean, at least with Bush 1(father of that son of a bush we endured for 8 years), that would have been a possibility, because he hated broccoli.

With Bush 2 (son of a bush), it was possible too, because he could have claimed they were dealing in broccoli as a weapon of mass destruction and eating that would make his daddy wince.

I doubt it though. I'm sure it was possible, because of the poppy bush hating broccoli angle, but I doubt it.

18. I like broccoli but if one doesn't....
broccolli exports are more dangerous than an ancient culture that has mighty fossil fuel deposits and a hostile theocracy at present because the Brits and USA fucked with a friendly ancient civilization that wanted and wants Democracy of the People more than any ideology or religion.

19. Early on, when the denials that we went onto Iraq for the oil were coming fast...
from the Bush administration, Someone said something to the effect (and I wish I could remember who said it)

"If a nation known around the world for its love of potato chips and french fries, and were in fact the one country in the world that ate more potatoes than any other country, invaded and occupied Oregon and Idaho, but denied up and down that they were there for the spuds, would we believe them?"

22. I don't think we'd be occupying Iraq if there'd never been an oil embargo in the 70's.
That was a real shock to the system, and our foreign policy ever since has been based around preventing a repeat of that event.
