I have heard discussions about the weight shifts around the Earth. The Chinese earthquake was most likely caused by the immense three rivers dam and the water behind it. What new loads are being put on normal plate tectonics by mountain top removal, oil extraction, open pit mines, the melting polar ice caps and rising ocean levels? Will these abuses to the Earth intensify earthquakes? I will not dismiss the possibility.
