6. Twenty years ago that was one of our projects
for RURAL schools in Mexico.. .

They didn't have that many desks. A few of my guys were carpenters. I learned how to paint them. We bought the materials, they brought their tools and in between calls we built 45 sets... we delivered them to a public school in ambulances that had their gurneys removed... we were off duty for that.

We used the trip for the national vaccination campaign and to set up a field clinic for the day.

Things have gotten far better in that sense, but people in the States have no idea.

Oh and that does not mean people just south of the border are living well..

And that one is doing well, We also have houses that are made of cardboard boxes...

Here some of the poverty just south of the border, which has been far worst in Mexico since NAFTA

Yes I am happy he is doing this... but hell, we need to be aware of poverty all around.

8. My friend, people do need to start somewhere
WE are lucky. WE are politically involved and aware of our surrounding. WE who are defined by many as the dangerous Left do see past our noses. And WE on the Left contribute not for tax write offs but because we care.

Thank you for what you do then and now. But for most of us, this is new. I've done my small part. I was simply impressed by what a man who has better things to do than worry about kids half a Planet away asked ME for my help.

7. I'm going to do this - I can only afford half a desk. Maybe one of you can buy the other half?
$24 for half a desk, 48 for whole desk.

Great job Lawrence, and how impressive this is how he spent his vacation.

13. Well just donated one in my fairly spoiled nephews name
a belayed Hanukah gift, Sent the E-CARD as well... the eight year old should be able to get it.

I love teachable moments at times, and this is definitely one of them.

14. I give to some needy charities in my sphere, and to pet rescue agencies in the area
on a regular bass. This small donation for desks felt great. And it will give for years.
