Germany suspends nuclear-plant extension plan
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday Germany is suspending for three months a decision to extend the life of the nation's 17 nuclear power plants, news reports said. "The situation after this moratorium will be different than the situation before," Merkel told reporters in Berlin, according to Dow Jones Newswires. The government last year moved to extend the life of the plants by an average of 12 years. Monday's announcement comes after opposition parties called on the government to scrap the extension following problems at nuclear plants in Japan following last Friday's earthquake and tsunami, the Associated Press reported. The announcement comes ahead of three German state elections over the next two weeks.

But then in 20 years, the nuclear power propagandists will win out again, and nuclear power will be all the rage again.

People conveniently forgot TMI and Chernobyl and all the criticality accidents that kill researchers.

We have societal ADHD, we can't focus on shit for more than five minutes.

What about the BP oil spill, anyone hear anything, other than on DU about it?

I heard people were pissing blood in some places. But that's not on the news. And remember seafood is safe to eat now from the gulf.

3. GOOD & this is desperation by Merkel, huge anti-nuke demos in Baden-Wuertemburg on Saturday (60,000+
elections are coming up there March 27th, and could topple Merkel out.

The new government, if this happens, will definitely turn the spigot off in terms of further bailouts to the rest of the EU, and could lead to the breakup of the Eurozone.

This is the tip of the spear, politically speaking, in all the EU, atm.
