Turnabout is fair play.
The Republican party has been very effective with the use of language in getting their message out. One glaring example is the use of the word Democrat. They have turned it into a pejorative term through the use of Democrat instead of democratic. The Democrat Senator from California instead of the Democratic Senator from Cal. It has a harsher sound and has been consistently used by the republicans for years. Subtle but there. It would be nice for our side to start to use the same tactic. The Republic Senator from Arizona. The Republic budget proposal. Turn the word Republic into a pejorative term. The Republic plan for America will not work!

15. Oh really?
I can think of any number of epithets to use. All of which have the advantage of being entirely accurate, though some are rather wordy, and others can't be printed in a family newspaper.

10. How about "Publicans"
This should drive the Fundies crazy..

"Publican, in the Gospels, is derived from the publicanus of the Vulgate, and signifies a member or employee of the Roman financial companies who farmed the taxes. From the time of the Republic the Roman State relieved itself of the trouble of collecting the taxes in the provinces by putting up the taxes of each in a lump sum to auction. The highest bidder received the authorization to extort the sum from the province in question."

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12553d.htm

So, essentially, Publicans were tax farmers that enabled extortionists. Good definition.

Well done.

16. Let's don't.
I loathe all modifications on the word 'Republican'. And I've seen them all: pukes, pugs, 'licans, rethugs, repugs, blah blah. They sound childish and stupid.

But then, I hate all cutesy abbreviations, like 'puter' for computer and 'prolly' for probably. It makes it seem like the writer can't quite take the binky out of their mouth or something.

19. I have to agree. It accepts the idea that
the fight is between the Republicans and the Democrats, when it's really the wealthy vs. everyone else. It smells like pro-wrestling to me.
