Overwhelmed
It suddenly became too much for me - weeks of protest, of being sick, of witnessing the destruction of democracy, of worrying about my own personal stresses and financial crisis, and then the unimaginable agony and horror of what the people of Japan are going through... and feeling so incredibly powerless.

Eleven minutes of respite:

Then back at it.

Solidarity

9. Thanks bobbolink.
I have seen the bumper stickers that say "If you're not outraged you're not paying attention". Could also read "If you're not overwhelmed you're not paying attention".

10. "If you're not outraged, your heart is encased in cement."
How's that?

:nuke:

2. About a week ago,
I told my wife that we were both suffering from 'outrage fatigue'. So I hear you!

3. I know how you feel.
Seems like I'm in a batting cage with the balls coming hard and fast every 15 seconds.

5. Understood.
I took some 'solitude therapy' yesterday. I walked out onto Lake Winnebago far enough that the only sound I heard was my boots crunching the snow. Drilled a few holes and caught enough fish to totally take my mind off the rest of the world for a while.

6. I've become a firm believer in daily yoga/meditation.
It is indeed the only thing (along with action) keeping me from completely giving up.

7. It is definitely overwhelming! It is no easy life for activists.
We need to be able to be honest about how we feel, and be strengthened by others who care and understand. Being alone in this just doesn't work.

Thank you for stating it.... I know just what you mean. We really are all in this together.

11. True words, "feeling so incredibly powerless."
It's vital to remember to take care of ourselves, even if it's easy to overlook.

Take some daily "me" time. A burned out person is of no use to anyone. Recharge your batteries and then get back in the fight with a renewed vigor.
