It starts late but loops again at the 50 sec mark.

11. Did you see the latest pictures of Oyster Creek, New Jersey?
OMG, you could see the cooling elements. It was amazing!

What's great about the information age is that even the most obscure fetishes can find a community. I mean I used to think I was a total freak for my collection of photos of Nuclear Power Plants (not to mention that rare cut of "Our Friend the Atom" (1972) with additional fusion footage). But thanks to the internet I know there are literally dozens of other nuke porn lovers out there.

3. Just the containment housing
Nothing to be alarmed. That's the way they designed it. (not really)

8. There was a guy from UCS on CNN this weekend
He said it was perhaps indicative of a hydrogen leak (from the core) which led to the explosion.

So, yeah, it was "just the containment housing" that exploded, as a result of a core leak.

15. These things happen all the time!
No worries. Remain calm. All is well! We just have to wait for the cooling to happen! Even the worst-case
scenarios are no big deal!*

glossing over of the truth and general rainbow-unicorn-rosy depiction of a nuclear catastrophe.

5. Wish they had a timestamp on that. Is that yesterday or today?
It says Reactor 3, which was yesterday. Second explosion at #3?

17. The explosion in the video in the OP is MUCH larger
I've played both videos several times and they are different.

And if the outer containment structure is what blew up in the video from Saturday, what were the large chunks falling from the sky in the video from today?

Play the one in the OP and this one from Saturday - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjx-JlwYtyE&feature=related

Definitely NOT the same explosion.

18. This is the one that happened late Sunday night, US time, and has been on the news ever since
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 03:48 PM by muriel_volestrangler
It's 'new' as in 'more than 12, but less than 24 hours old'. There have been dozens of DU threads about it already.

20. Yes, but it is not the one that virgogal posted a link for that I responded to
She posted a link to the explosion that happened Saturday, Japanese time and said it was the same as the one in the OP that happened Monday, Japanese time.

There hasn't been since yesterday, thank G-d.
