Tommy Lee Jones to run for Kay Bailey Hutcheson seat?
This would be fabulous, and there was talk of it on KPFT Pacifica Radio this morning in Houston. Tommy Lee besides being the roommate of Al Gore at Harvard, lives on a ranch in Texas, is bi-lingual and is a Democrat. There was also a story in USA Today ...

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2011/03/tommy-lee-jones-texas-senate-democrats-/1

This could get people out the vote -- and would help Obama in Texas. He didn't campaign in Texas in 2008, and ended up in striking distance. Tommy Lee could turnaround the Democratic fortunes in this state.

It can't be long before even all the redneck Republicans in West Texas realize that Rick Perry is a complete idiot, and a narcissist of legendary proportions.

4. Yup. At Harvard.
Roomies with Al Gore, and Bob Somerby of Daily Howler.

I'm sure Al Gore would be glad to lend a hand in support of Jones.

If Al Franken can get in why can't Jones?

26. Jones gave the nomination speech for Gore in 2000
He told stories about their time together as roommates, including playing pool and watching 'Star Trek' together, and the time they were snowed in during Thanksgiving weekend, and roasted their turkey in the dorm room fireplace.

In the 1970 movie 'Love Story', written by their mutual friend Erich Segal, Jones landed his first film role playing one of the roommates.

Until she was re-elected.

She is a defense contractor whore.

(Note: Men are defense contractor whores as well. No sexist intent meant.)

14. He'd be great, but I selfishly would miss his acting....
and I fear his talents and intelligence might be wasted on many Texans, who don't seem to be able to recognize "complete idiots and narcissists of legendary proportions," even after having one long stream of them in office.

16. Who told you Obama didn't campaign in Texas in 008?
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 03:06 PM by blogslut
As for the article, it sounds like a load of horse manure wrapped up in fantasy.

I like Mr. Jones but I seriously doubt he's going to run for office.

EDIT ADD: Pics of Obama campaigning in Texas 2008

20. He's a bit of an asshole in public sometimes
I can't imagine why he'd run, unless he's gotten over himself & stopped yelling at kids wanting his autograph.

21. Take a moment to read the story...
A local radio host has started a "draft" effort; no indication at all that TLJ is remotely interested.

25. Honestly, I think Geoff Berg is talking out of the wrong orifice.
I'm not saying he was wrong about Barbara Ann Radnofsky or Rick Noriega rejected out of hand due to the D behind their names. I just think that point is more what this is about than actually getting Mr Jones to run. At lest I hope that's what this is about since he even admits he has no real knowledge of Jones' actual politics other than that he's a Democrat.

29. I saw Jones speak in 2000
He was wooden and stiff. He should have used his acting skills like Reagan did. He could raise
the barn roof if he wanted to, and I hope he does! Reagan and Fred Thompson shouldn't be the
only Hollywood types to make a successful run for office.
