1. I don't really know. Haiti is still waiting for the pledges
that is such a huge disappointment, and you got to wonder sometimes.

2. I gave money to the American Red Cross...
...but Doctors Without Borders/MSF is also working in Japan. My wife and I give big bucks to both organizations because they have a long-term record of effectiveness and good models of fully utilizing contributions.

They have a very high charitable rating and always partner with local agencies. I trust their integrity 100%.

4. I don't know. I'm waiting until more clarity exists on this.
When I donate, I want to make absolutely certain that my limited funds go where I want them to go. So, I'm waiting until it's much clearer. Not to the Red Cross, though. I want a direct Japanese organization with a clear plan.

They're based in Portland, and they're very experienced in disaster relief.

According to their website, they work with a corresponding agency in Japan,
