If Walter Cronkite was around now, how do you think he would react to Palin... |
|
Late last night I was working on a tax return and Mrs WCGreen had on the tube.
There was this guy talking about Sarah, plain and stupid.
He was chastising the media, claiming that they were at fault for the state of our political discourse because they don't seem to have any kind of crazy button.
The example he gave was when she answered about being able to do more if she stepped down as governor.
He said Walter would have just cut her off, let her go and ignore her.
I think the state of the media is, in a big part, related to the continuous right wing assault on what they deem the left-wing media.
The newer journalists, or should I say news release readers, are so frightened by the name calling (what balls they have) that they have given up on exercising any kind of filter, especially when the right wing is concerned.

3. He would have clearly seen her for what she is: |
|
Bat-shit crazy.
I wonder if he would even have bothered to interview her.
Your comments on the news release readers are right on.

Methuselah's grandfather when, in conversation with some young colleagues at my office, realized that they had no idea who Walter Cronkite was. I had mentioned his name and got blank stares until one of them actually said, "Who?"
