Question about tsunami and small Pacific island of Tuvalu |
|
My wife is interested in anthropology and has studied a Pacific island nation called Tuvalu.
The small island nation is significant for being threatened previously from rising ocean levels due to global warming. Immediately prior to this most recent tsunami, Tuvalu was only about 10 cm. above sea level. So Tuvalu faced a daunting threat from this most recent tsunami.
Am wondering if anyone on DU has any information on how Tuvalu and\or its nearby neighbors weathered the tsunami. We have done some searching on the internet but have not had any luck so far.
Any help\information (and links if available) is deeply appreciated.

5. Thank you - looks like the Pacific islands may have dodged a |
|
bullet from the tsunami. Radiation from Japan's nuclear plants may still be a problem but longer-term.

3. Tuvalu was unaffected by this event, but it's still doomed. Link and a good video: |
