4. Please, please, please, let there be no more damage. #4, being NON-opeartional at the time
of the disaster, should not be blowing up right now.

If the thing can't be shut the thing down, why was it started up in the first place?

Unless the "new, safe" nuclear reactors have overcome the problems of the 60's-70's reactors in wide use today, NO more REACTORS!

5. Gen III+ reactors are designed with passive safety.
The ABWR for example can cool a shutdown core without any pumps and can operate without any human intervention. The ECCS contains 3 days worth of water. As long as the ECCS can be replenished within 3 days it can cool the reactor indefinately.

Similar systems existing in the other two GenIII+ designs the EPR and AP1000.

6. BBC TV said it was not coming from #4 per se, but the cooling pond
area - it was inferred that it had something to do with spent fuel. But to be honest - they were not sure of the info they had been provided either.
