How much CO2 does one solar panel create?
http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/research-innovations/blogs/how-much-co2-does-one-solar-panel-create

Here's a comparison of several scientific studies on the carbon life-cycle costs of solar (both PV and thin film). The gist is an average 3 year payback... meaning after 3 years the solar panels create as much energy as was consumed in their initial production and installation. In the remaining 22-27 years of their life span they would be "carbon negative."
============

Oil companies can't control the supply of sunshine, let's not let them control the development and expansion of solar energy.

3. Now there's a sane question .... Love ya -- !!
I'm feeling a bit like an extra in the movie "On the Beach" right now --

all of this is going on yet you make dinner -- eat -- plan to sleep in your bed tonight --

it's surreal!!

All the while we known that many more are dying -- 10,000+ dead already -- and where do

the man-made insanities end?

9. Uhm, that's not entirely true.
There will be a major meltdown if solar energy is deployed on millions of home rooftops.

Tea Partiers and Corporate big wigs, in particular, will have meltdowns.

:D

5. And if the factory that manufactures them is also on photovoltaic power, the CO2 amount goes down.
I'm ashamed for not having thought of posting this myself. After all, I studied this topic back in the 80's in a thermodynamics course.

I guess it takes a catastrophe to instigate change. Or awaken people. Change is an altogether different subject. Corporations aren't going to switch gears without a fight. Unless, the government takes the reins and rewards industry with incentives.

7. i think they already do control the lion's share?
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 05:45 AM by Hannah Bell
seems like i read that somewhere, that the same energy corps basically control it all, including wind & solar.
