Speaking of coverups, where are those pictures of the plant right now?
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 12:11 AM by Poll_Blind
I know there's gotta be a tonne of people or at least governments taking pictures of that shit right now- and it's 2:05 in the afternoon in Japan. Where's the pictures?

I think the last "blast" 6+ hours ago still hasn't got any footage attached.

Why play no peekie? The state of a few hundred yards of buildings is top news for an entire planet. Show us some pictures...

Or explain why not.

Don't we have little helicopter buddies with cameras on them or drones we can fly over the damned thing? Probably even get some good infra-red information. Again, I have a feeling this is already going on.

Please share! If there's a big pall of black smoke coming off the reactor and...blowing toward Tokyo as opposed to blowing out to sea, don't you think people would be interested in that?

No no I'm talking distance shots from airplanes or ships. Or satellites.
I know USA today had a satellite picture this morning. I would love just...say, one picture an hour.

4. The third explosion for...No. 4? (I forget- it's the one which already had 2 previous explosions)
By any chance have a link? The ones I saw were very energetic explosions.

3. There is a no-fly zone now.
I forget whether it is 20 or 30 kilometers.

The reason is that if anything flies through the air and picks up radioactive particles, the vehicle will spread radiation further, which is precisely what is not needed.

But that is why you are not going to be seeing much in the way of new photos. The latest peak of 400 millisieverts is very high and not safe to be around for very long. They need to get everyone not essential out of the area and keep them out.

8. Good point- I'm thinking a long range telescopic shot from a ship or satellite or even..
...a long-distance shot from an airplane outside of the no-fly zone. Even 30 km that's still a little under 20 miles. I guess my point is it's definitely not the case that nobody can see what's going on. All I really wanna know is how high the smoke is and what direction it's going, generally.

15. You cannot take a photo from 20 miles away.
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 05:00 AM by Paradoxical
First off, if you're taking the photo from the ground, nothing on the ground 20 miles away is going to be visible because the Earth is curved. Secondly, there's way too much atmosphere.

Sure, you could get a nice panoramic photo. But you're not going to be able to resolve buildings from 20 miles.

7. Maybe the earthquake and tsunami have something to add into the equation.
Oh and lethal doses of radiation. Can you blame anyone for not wanting to get close, or maybe helping rescue people stranded from the other events? If it was just the nuclear event unfolding I could agree with you, but what about the rest of the country, how much luck are they having finding survivors? Maybe Japan is taxed to its limit right now.

9. I just refuse to believe that there is no imagery of any sort for that place right now.
People don't have to expose themselves, they can use high-power optics to at least get a general idea. I'm sure somebody's doing it- ore more likely a few somebodies. I just wanna see it. Or even a tiny chunk of it. I wanna know what that place looks like- especially the height of the cloud and direction it's moving.

Doesn't have to be the Japanese. I think there is a 100% certainty the U.S. is imaging the area, we've certainly got the technology to do it a gazillion times over. And the commercial solutions which can also do it. I'm just not seeing any images coming out for the last 6 hours, not even stills from any angle.

11. Maybe radiation screws up satellite imagery.
Don't really know, just that something is wrong and they cannot do so.
