Nuclear safety agency of japan: japanese only

Evacuation plan

within 20-30 km of plant: still closed windows, etc.
outside of the 30 km limit: if further evacuation necessary we will inform

Reactors:

we are still pumping water to cool down afterheat in fukushima plant 1 reactors 1-3.

reactor 4: 23:00 there was fire 3rd floor concrete wall, at 10:30 we order to cease the fire. it was in area of used fuel rods & also near power supply for pump. we don't know the cause. when checked at 11 the fire was ceased. it looks like this might go on so we will install the next task force team to prefecture office

near tokai nuclear facility: reading of 5 mSv/hr 7:00 today
we suspect radiation from fukushima

5. it actually sounded a bit better - water situation stable at 1&3, 2 being cooled
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 02:49 AM by Hannah Bell
radiation level front gate as of 3:30 had dropped from previous higher level
#4 fire out

bad thing was what's going on in no 4 & temp rise in 5-6 i guess could be cooling problem again.

3. I watched a bit of Nightline and one reporter who had
been within 12 miles of the reactor was told by ABC to evacuate.
He went to an evacuation site ad interviewed people.
Something that stood out that I had not seen previously was that he given a credit card size "sensor card" to monitor radiation. It stayed orange which apparently meant safe levels.

radiation levels dropping at (?) reactor (didn't catch) edit: it was the gate, i believe

reactor 4: fire out, we have to check what's happening

there was a high reading of 1000 millisievert (i think milli) inside (?) reactor #4

Q: as for spent nuclear fuel pool?

A: we don't know what level of water there is, water is being pumped, temperature is higher than normal

Q: have tepco made improvement in information release after visit by PM Kan?

A: We think so as it is important to people of japan

A: #2 reactor is still being cooled, fuel rods are in water, now measuring figures, pressure & water flow no problem, generally we think cooling functioning. suppression pool not negatively functioning now

Q: Earlier temps were rising at 5&6. Is there any trouble with pumps?

Wrapup by moderator:

1&3 reactors - water supply stable

as of 3:30 radiation reading at (didn't get) reactor has gone down

didn't get rest

12. Shit BBC TV: Reporting Spent Fuel Pool Fire and Raising Rads
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 03:06 AM by jannyk
live report on now.

They have also mentioned this a couple of times - first time it has been on the website. Posted within the hour.

#
0709: There is a fire at a spent fuel pond of a reactor and radioactivity has been released into the atmosphere, says the IAEA according to AFP news agency.
#
0738: More on the fire at a spent fuel pond at Fukushima: It is at the number 4 reactor and "radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere", AFP quotes the IAEA as saying.

they already dealt with the #4 fire earlier:

#
0636: The fire at reactor 4 may have been caused by a hydrogen explosion, the IAEA says Japanese authorities have told it.

report in the presser was that the #4 fire had been in the area "near" the fuel rods & also near the power supply -- but fire now out -- for several hours, actually.

high reading of about 1000 msieverts inside reactor

waiting for the good news...
