Um, hi?

Do you think I'm hot?

I want you to USE ME!

:P

You may not be into big girls, but I guarantee once you go solar, you never go back!

I mean, I do have a problem with emitting wind, but trust me, you won't notice that too much.

Is it a date?

And you know, coal may be easy, but she's smokes like a chimney.
And natural gas will frac you over big time.
And don't even get me started on oil, if you think I have a problem with wind, she's definitely got a problem with gas.

7. The future of humanity is harvesting the energy of the sun, like the rest of life on Earth.
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 07:31 AM by originalpckelly
Just about all other land based life uses the sun, fuck we even use the sun to live. Why not just use it in a good way for power?

Wind and direct solar are actually both solar power!

17. For organic photovoltaics only 8%, for inorganic 21% AND AND AND!!!!
For a cool new technology called concentrated photovoltaics...drum roll please...41%!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, that's the way to go.

Concentration is the cheapest smartest idea for any solar power system, because you can lower materials costs. You have to track the sun with regular fields of photovoltaics, but with concentration, so there's no loss there. This way, you track the sun and reflect energy on to a centrally located photovoltaic.

The best strategy is concentration, and the numbers bear it out!

47. I just meant that your post showed an option that looks
equally as attractive as solar and has the advantage of being constant (i.e. tide goes in/out every day, whereas solar can suffer when the skies are cloudy.)

Guess my attempt to carry through the "good-looking" energy sources theme fell a little flat. :)

I had to hold back a laugh when he talked about how in the future there will be windmills and solar panels on peoples homes and they would still need our gas fired plant for those peak times when the sun was not shining and the wind was still.

My home has

A Wind Generator &

59. I live in west texas
Wind farms everywhere out here. The worst accident we've had so far is lightning nailing one of the blades on the turbine. Made front page news here in a little town of 10,000. They replaced the melted blade and it's back up and running. Hell, during very windy days they cant run half of the turbines because the power lines don't have enough capacity. They are in the process of upgrading and installing new lines. There is hardly a time that the wind does not blow here.
