Author Stephen King includes Walker in three stooges reference
AUGUSTA, Maine — Stephen King is calling the governors of Wisconsin, Florida and his home state of Maine the three stooges.

In a rally last week in Sarasota, Fla., supporting education, unions and veterans, the horror author and outspoken Democrat compared Maine Gov. Paul LePage, Florida's Rick Scott and Wisconsin's Scott Walker, all Republicans, to "Larry, Curly and Moe. That's what we've got here."

All three governors have drawn fire from unions over pensions and, in Wisconsin, state worker union rights.

A spokesman for LePage responded Monday that Maine's proud of King and his ability to terrify, "but his novels are no match for Maine's business climate." Spokesman Dan Demeritt said LePage is trying to reduce the costs of doing business in Maine that will create jobs.

11. I'm not a big fan of his books but I love his short stories.
His novels always seemed to me to be prime examples of taking 3 chapters to say what could be said in 3 paragraphs, brevity being the soul of wit and all that.

And he will always have a special place in my heart for this remark; when asked how he came up with all of his horror ideas and realistic characters he said "I have the heart of a small boy ... I keep it on my desk in a jar."

14. what bothers me most about him
is not simply how derivative his novels are (and I agree about the 3 chapters to say 3 paragraphs) but mostly his total dependence on "divine intervention" with no possible explanation. a lazy way to write that appeals to magical thinkers.

His books have earned millions, not to mention all the movies and TV movies. How can you dare call him a "simpering dick"? He is laughing at your comment all the way to the bank.

16. The Howard brothers (Stooges) in the day were strong supporters of FDR, stupidity was an act.
I am sure when they wanted to appear stupid they imitated Republicans of the time much like modern comedians (Tina Fey) who imitate Republicans. Who is more ignorant than the Tea Party GOP? The characters Mr. King references I am sure are not acting!

35. Read King's Under the Dome.
The main character is a bloviating evil fundie right wing type. Living under the Dome is almost like a microcosm of the U.S.A. I feel certain that his intention was that we would make the comparison.

Sure. What kind, what do they pay, and how long will they stay? We've been down *that* road many times.
