Sen. Jim DeMint: The Bigger Government Gets, The Smaller God Gets

South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint, speaking on a Family Research Council radio show, must have thought he was also speaking for God; for, according to DeMint, as the government gets bigger, God gets smaller.

DeMINT: Some are trying to separate the social, cultural issues from fiscal issues, but you really can’t do that. America works, freedom works, when people have that internal gyroscope that comes from a belief in God and Biblical faith. Once we push that out, you no longer have the capacity to live as a free person without the external controls of an authoritarian government. I’ve said it often and I believe it – the bigger government gets, the smaller God gets. As people become more dependent on government, less dependent on God.

God cares so much about the size of governments, especially the American government...Red sharpie underlines it. Say, didn't Jesus say “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matt 22:21) I suppose Sen. DeMint hasn't read that far.

is if you are poor, hungry or homeless, it's your own fault because you are not in God's favor. If you lack medical care, God will decide if you live or die, not the availability of treatment. Those who are doing OK are the one's that are worthy of God's love.
