Join the Michigan AFL-CIO affiliate unions and Working

NO to GOP attacks on Michigan's middle class

Letter to My Fellow Michiganders from Michael Moore:

"I'm asking everyone who can to take Wednesday off and head to the State
Capitol in Lansing to protest the cruel and downright frightening legislation
currently being jammed down our throats ... Governor Snyder, once elected,
yanked off his nice-guy mask to reveal that he is in fact a multi-millionaire
hell-bent on destroying our state and turning it over to his buddies from
Wall Street ... Trust me, you will rue the day you sat home and did
nothing while thieves posing as politicians stole your
Great Lakes State from you." – Michael Moore

16. Why? I've helped organize bus transportation to our State Capital many times...
For many people it is an hours long trip (in California 10 hours or more) and riding the bus makes more sense economically.

Nothing wrong with people from across the state showing up together and not have to drive individually. After All gas is 3.50 a gallon and the bus if free.

If the public union sector wants the UAW support, they better start supporting the UAW. Enough of this non union junk.

but people who drive non union made vehicles still have the same rights that we do, I think pretty much anyone who wants to protest will be welcome

besides, there are so many non union plants in right to work states it is pretty hard to keep track of which vehicles are made by union labor

47. spartans and wolverines broadcast on limbaugh stations
that enable and support the walkers and snyders.

spartans are on AM 1240 WJIM
badgers on AM 1310 WIBA

students and faculty of those unis need to stop that and demand they find alternatives.

those stations also do anti-science global warming denial 24/7.

what the fuck? their local stonsors need to be asked that question, and shamed and boycotted until they find alternatives.

and as long as the left orgs keep giving the think tanks a free speech free ride to blast the country with their coordinated talking points to short circuit the normal democratic feedback mechanisms, this will not improve, or do so much slower than necessary.

even as protests go on in many places all those protests are getting talked over by the loudest radio stations in those states.

wisconsin has 16 limbaugh stations. michigan has 26 stations. then there are other RW stations that don't have limbaugh but do hannity and or back, etc. AL ar egetting snyder and walker's back, and kasich's back, and were instrumental in enabling them.

some may be good places to protest. the targets of the protests are being excused and enforced by those very loud megaphones and the protestors aims are distorted and the numbers are minimized. media is being intimidated.

everything progressives do is made harder by ignoring those stations and the national and local blowhards that blast from them on behalf of billionaires. amazingly, in many of those states the state universities broadcast sports on those stations, along with the limbaughs and hannitys- their students and faculty need to get on it.

wisconsin badgers in madison and mich state spartans in lansing are just two, and both of those are in the NCAA tournament.

Progressives will lose all major messaging battles until they picket the limbaugh/hannity megastations and boycott those stations' local sponsors.

in the dictionary for fascists.

I was shocked Forbes would post a story about the Governor in Michigan having a bill that is one of the most anti-democratic bills of our time. I thought they would want to keep their readers in the dark.

Michigan Governor Plays Fast and Loose with Democracy, Invokes Radical New Powers

Perhaps lost in the Wisconsin shuffle is the story of what exactly is happening in Michigan. Newly elected Republican governor, Rick Snyder, is set to pass one of the most sweeping, anti-democratic pieces of legislation in the country – and almost no one is talking about it.

Snyder’s law gives the state government the power not only to break up unions, but to dissolve entire local governments and place appointed “Emergency Managers” in their stead. But that’s not all – whole cities could be eliminated if Emergency Managers and the governor choose to do so. And Snyder can fire elected officials unilaterally, without any input from voters. It doesn’t get much more anti-Democratic than that.

Except it does. The governor simply has to declare a financial emergency to invoke these powers – or he can hire a private company to declare financial emergency and take over oversight of the city. That’s right, a private corporation can declare your city in a state of financial emergency and send in its Emergency Manager, fire your elected officials, and reap the benefits of the ensuing state contracts.

These Republican governors have risen to power in what will eventually be seen as one of the great political farces of our time.
