The House Rules Committee will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday to consider legislation to permanently prohibit federal funding of National Public Radio (NPR) after conservative activist James O'Keefe released a video smearing the news organization.

The bill, H.R. 1076, was introduced by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO), who is leading the effort in the House to eliminate all federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the parent organization of NPR and the Public Broadcasting Service.

Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) office told Politico that he will bring the bill to the House floor on Thursday.

1. This proves that they don't care about facts
because that video was proved to be edited in a biased way.

9. An emergency meeting by the House Republicans now what could it be for?

Aid to Japan ....

Earthquake zones and nuclear power plants .....

The headlong rush to destroy public education in the primary, secondary, and colleges in America ....

Real help to the long term unemployed so they can get working and get real jobs w/ products made in America ....

Hell no ..... They gotta defund NPR ASAP because the jig is up that the James O'Keefe / Breitbart film was one more edited pack of lies.

Hey John Boner where are the jobs?

BTW this is one more useless act of Kabuki theater .... the House will pass it and it will be killed in the senate. Nice use of the public's funds.

11. Why are they wasting all this time on this shit?
They know that none of these foolish bills they are passing are going anywhere in the Senate...and more to the point - most of their constituents know this too. So why bother? It would seem stupid to down the road say "Well, we passed it in the house...but those nasty Dems stopped it in the Senate." when everyone knows thats exactly what would happen anyway...it's a Dah...thingy.
