Pocono Medical Center Workers Strike for Respect
By Richard Negri
Workers at Pocono Medical Center (PMC), in East Stroudsburg, Pa, have had just about enough of management's threats, intimidation and lack of respect.

...PMC's Arrogance

Democratic votes and the voice of workers don't seem to matter to management at Pocono Medical Center, which posted record profits of $21.9 million last year. Instead of accepting the workers democratic decision and settling a fair contract, PMC has engaged in a pattern of union-busting...

Like workers in Wisconsin, Ohio, and elsewhere who are standing up for the right to collective bargaining and in support of good jobs in their community, PMC workers are fighting back against an assault on democracy and workers' rights.

Pocono Medical Center workers formed their union to have a voice in their hospital and to improve the care they provide their patients. It is the height of irresponsibility on management's part to force these workers on strike instead of following the law, respecting their voice and settling a fair contract.

....

21.9 million in profits but you can't give the people who made it happen for you a decent wage = We don't respect you!
