He was also known as Michael Schneider, and the step brother of my son. 36 years old a married father with 2 kids. Special forces ranger, multiple tours (first Afghanistan deployment) and a shitload of medals including the bronze star and CIB. IED got his vehicle on the 12th. I never met him,but his Mom and Dad are nice folk.
Back during the Vietnam era the slang for killed was "wasted". Tonight again I'm brought back to the aptness of the term. Today the Brass was discussing reducing troops there this summer. American Imperialism has wasted a good and honorable man.

3. My heart goes out to his parents |
|
and my rage goes out to anyone who STILL thinks we shouldn't get the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's just admit we've done enough and leave it at that.

11. I, all too well. remember 'wasted'... |
|
and I remember how it fell into domestic slang.
Let us not forget just what it means.
'Wasted'.
What a shame, and a Ranger no less.
Trying so hard...
For so long...
Just to get 'wasted'...
Blessed journey, Mr. Park, Sonoman
