I'm so pissed off. I'm up late listening to the news and I cannot find
a 24 hour news channel that isn't playing news from earlier tonight. 24 hour news networks should be no repeats!!! What would happen if say someone had a brother living in Japan 600 miles away from the reactors. Oh wait! That's me!!! I have 3 news networks and no news!!

Grrrr:mad:

..I was watching 'Wolf' on CNN the other day who said he was going to be on for 2 hours...the second hour turned out to be repeating segments from the first hour with his own added commentary...also is it me or is his delivery just about the most annoying thing ever? It's as though he has ot keep talking even if there are no words in his empty head, he just has to keep making sounds as long as the red light is on..

God I miss Keith..

5. Duckspeaker
Duckspeak is a Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck or to speak without thinking. Duckspeak can be either good or "ungood" (bad), depending on who is speaking, and whether what they are saying is in following with the ideals of Big Brother. To speak rubbish and lies may be ungood, but to speak rubbish and lies for the good of "The Party" may be good. In the appendix to 1984, Orwell explains:

“ Ultimately it was hoped to make articulate speech issue from the larynx without involving the higher brain centres at all. This aim was frankly admitted in the Newspeak word duckspeak <…>. Like various words in the B vocabulary, duckspeak was ambivalent in meaning. Provided that the opinions which were quacked out were orthodox ones, it implied nothing but praise, and when the Times referred to one of the orators of the Party as a doubleplusgood duckspeaker it was paying a warm and valued compliment. ”

3. And Drone On Like They Do Now...
I recall the sad day when JFK Jr's plane went down. Precious little information yet the cables went wall to wall with endless babble that went into conjecture. There were few facts available which could be summed up in two minutes yet they had 58 more to fill.

Remember, news is a corporate enterprise...to make money first and "inform" as a byproduct.
