6. That is *absolutey* the mindset of the teabaggers in our state
There was a news clip of some idiot woman with a pig nose protesting in favor of cutting government job pay and benefits - including to retirees. She said she has it rough and so should they.

In fucking credble.

Stupid thoughts from stupid people.

10. The thing is...
anybody can apply for a union job(many of them do not require a degree) but not everyone can apply to be rich - but hey - although the odds are complete against them they may be rich one day so keep the loopholes open

8. Unions have done a terrible job of PR. Where are the ads saying "fight for your benefits rather than
take them away from others"?

Union managements are decades behind the negative onslaught.

9. There's a lot of envy.
Some involves a desire for power and to make sure that your power's recognized.

So a lot of people say, "I pay taxes, so I pay your salary." And then, in the interest of showing that they have authority, abuse their employees. I don't find a strong ideological bias in this group.

The church I worked for had people like that. "I tithe, so I pay your salary." Conservative church, it was usually the "self-proclaimed righteous" that were like this.

The student government I was in had people like that. "I'm on the governing board, so I pay your stipend." It was usually the "self-proclaimed righteous" that did this, too, but they were usually rather far left of center.

Some of the envy involves not power per se but money.

A lot of people have the attitude that if they can ding somebody's else's resources to improve their own lot it's a good thing. All they have to do is find a justification for it. In the case of public employees, it's the "I pay your taxes; I make less than you, so I need the money more." It's especially true when the option is raising taxes: "Either I can pay or you can pay. I think you should pay." Other similar kinds of excuses for envy and somehow getting money from their pockets to one's own, or keeping more money from vanishing from your own pocket, can be found.

11. Oh hell yes, we're living the American Dream. We'll be making millions
of dollars any day now. . .

(The only ones living the American Dream are the rich bastards whose job is to off shore US manufacturing jobs)
