Poll question: Did you attend a "Defend the Dream" rally Tuesday? |
|
There were "Defend the Dream" rallies around the country yesterday, in solidarity with Wisconsin and other states fighting draconian cuts and attempt to deny collective bargaining rights.
I attended the one in Kansas City, on Ward Parkway. I didn't get an accurate count; but, I estimate 40-50 people were in attendance. We were reinforced by some anti-war protesters who apparently have been demonstrating at the same spot for years.

Good turnout. I pass through that intersection on my way home from work. I usually don't leave work until 5:30pm, sometimes 6pm on Tuesday, but got off early yesterday to attend the demonstration!

4. Yes, my husband and I attended one in Salem OH |

It was gray and rainy but there was a pretty decent turnout...guessing about 50-60 people. Many teacher groups, from DD staff in county, Youngstown University personel, six or seven area K-12 districs represented, some library workers. Also construction, post office, fire, steel, auto worker union members. Local area organizers. My husband is retireed UAW. Group seemed enthusiastic!

1500+ people under cloudy and cool conditions. Thankfully no rain. After the rally a few hundred of us went across the street to visit the governor. No luck there, but after that some went to the Legislature (in session) and got themselves arrested. Got a LOT of attention. I wish we had a medal or SOME kind of memorial for folks that get themselves arrested in this cause.
