Wisconsin Republicans lifting the fines and (illegal) contempt charges on the 14 Senators. How Nice.
Edited on Wed Mar-16-11 12:54 PM by Ellipsis
After having their illegal actions being pointed out by local Madison attorneys the gracious republicans lifted the fines and contempt charges.

In an attempt to repair their working relationship, Wisconsin Republican lawmakers said Tuesday they're lifting the fines and the contempt finding against Democratic politicians who fled Wisconsin in the midst of the state's battle over public unions and the state budget.

<snip>

"The name of the game is moving this state forward, putting this stuff behind us," Republican Wisconsin Senate President Mike Ellis said at a news conference, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. "Let's get on with the people's business. Let's stop all the bickering."

<snip>

Even though Republicans managed to pass a pared-down version of the "budget repair bill," the state must still defend the new law in court. Public unions and their supporters opposed the legislation because, in addition to scaling back public workers' benefits, it nearly eliminated most public workers' collective bargaining rights. Officials from Dane County, Wisconsin, are challenging the law, and court hearing on the legal challenge is schedule for Friday. The legislation is slated to officially become law on March 25.

Mean while back on the ranch, Walker...

...was greeted by about two hundred protesters (not bad given the short notice to the public) "with a chorus of boos and chants" in Hudson Wisconsin. While on a visit to a non union business he received a tepid, all be it polite reception by factory workers where he later left by a side door.

Today...

...he said said to take the recall efforts against him seriously because because "union money is pouring in from outside Wisconsin to help the effort". Sure scott, but the fact that you've damn near pissed off the entire populace has nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure this is the first time he made that concession that his ass is on the line.

Apparently close to 50% of the required signatures have been collected for the eight republicans and in three critical districts which could flip the senate well over 50% (I'm hearing more like 75% in those districts)

Out in the boondocks...

The tea party is having a rough go of things. In Merrill Wisconsin just north of Wausau a modest conflict, where some intimidation and damage to petitions are observed. It is interesting to note however that at the end of the article "The high priestess patriotatist" could not elaborate on the total estimated number of collected signatures to date.

AH! What a nice day, time to go out and enjoy the weather...

5. He should STILL be held in contempt, according to Wisconsin law
...for violating 2010 Wisconsin Code
Chapter 13. Legislative branch. 13.26 Contempt.

13.26(1)(d)---(d) Giving or offering a bribe to a member, or attempting by menace or other corrupt means or device to control or influence a member's vote or to prevent the member from voting.

Probably the only reason they "reinstated" the rights of the Dems.

7. It is a sad day indeed when
the Democrats even let them think they could remove their voting rights.

Show up anyway, vote, and dare these Republotards to take action. Send me in, I'll do it. Bring 'em. I'll bash the doors down and let the CITIZENS in. Let the Cheeseheads take care of the problem.

The day is coming.

2. Walker owes his entire existence to out-of-state funds
He thinks he's being clever, pulling a Rovian trick by accusing the other guy of being flooded with out-of-state funds.

He's on his heels, and THE PEOPLE of WISCONSIN are slowly but surely WINNING this battle!

8. That was my first thought. He only got elected due to outside big money and now he claims
it's bad when Dems/unions do it. What a sick MF. First time I ever thought, said or printed that word. I guess it took the despicable pig Walker to make me do it. My bad!
