Conservatives: We Are Being Outworked And Out-Organized In Wisconsin Recall Campaigns
Conservatives: We Are Being Outworked And Out-Organized In Wisconsin Recall Campaigns

WASHINGTON -- Both national and Wisconsin-based Republican operatives tell the Huffington Post the party is being dramatically outworked and out-organized by Democrats in the recall campaigns being launched against state Senators.

The operatives, who raised their concerns out of hope it would jar the GOP into assertiveness, argue complacency has taken over after Governor Scott Walker successfully shepherded his anti-collective bargaining bill into law. While the Wisconsin Democratic Party, with major assists from progressive groups and unions, has harnessed resentment towards the governor into a full-throttled effort to recall eight GOP Senators, neither the enthusiasm nor organizational acumen exists on the Republican side of the aisle.

“It's clear that Democrats and liberal organizations are engaging in an attempt to make recall more than a mere hypothetical possibility for some Wisconsin Republicans,” said Liz Mair, Vice President of Hynes Communications and former RNC Online Communications Director, who has worked closely with officials on the ground in Wisconsin. “Even though Governor Walker acted to end the impasse, Republicans and conservatives should not be acting like this is done and dusted.”

A conservative activist working inside the state on recall efforts was even more explicitly distraught. The Wisconsin Republican Party, the operative said, was not lending resources to the recall campaign groups had launched against Democratic Senators, in turn causing those groups to narrow their target list down from eight lawmakers to just three.

3. Panic mode?
They are winning. They are better organized, they have billions of dollars and they own the media.

This will not be easy.

PS: Don't believe what any Republican says.

that the republicans are 'now' better organized than the republicans.
You are comparing two events that have nothing to do with each other.

65. I agree.
If true, it is poor judgment to announce problems in a campaign. More likely they are doing this to cause our side to relax a bit and encourage their side to mount more of an effort.

They said they voted for Walker and Darling, are sorry and are trying their best to make up for it.

*THIS* is why I don't want national Democrat/White House involvement. It's not as partisan as they will have you believe and we can't shift the focus and momentum. Not now.

32. What a powerful post
This is so great to see, Democrats in action, woken up by the rabid right Republicons and their overreaching, non thinking Governors. There's no passion for it on the thug side, the Koch brothers would have to pay for and organize another fake group to do recalls on Democrats and they probably can't even pay people to do it for fear of the real deal grassroots Unions and their supporters fighting back. Bullies usually back down when confronted and a free bus ride and lunch is not as appealing as it was during the fake health care teabagger mob gatherings. They even have to rig "grassroots" movements these idiot Republicons and Koch fiends lol.

75. I'm in Nebraska and know a lot of R's, (after all this is a serious Red state)...
and many R's are disgusted at the tactics that were used in WI concerning the gutting of Unions and the concerted attempt to deny citizens Rights. Most tell me that if this were put on a ballot and passed it would be different, but even R's out here are correlating this directly to what many call, "nazi tactics". Even people I consider "wild eyed" conservatives are sickened by what they see, most believe in fair play, they certainly don't like to lose, but they also understand that fair play is as about American as it gets, and to see what is happening in WI...the best I can say is that people here are pretty ticked off.

I figure that if Nebraska R's see this as foul, many other R's do as well, which would explain why the R base in WI is not highly motivated to do much of anything, except perhaps sit this one out out of pure shame. I've said since the begining of this that there would be nationwide ramifications as this rippled through the nation. There are thinking R's out there and they believe in fair play, (my mother is a lifelong R, and she is appalled by what the GOP has become...even she has halting stated that it reminds her of a party that lost it's identity and found a new one closer to National Socialism that anything she's ever seen before, even the McCarthy years).

If anything, Walker and his band of drooling apes have done, it's galvanize the left and moderates to take action against the beast.
