Liberian girl's bullet casing jewelry heals wounded children
-----

"Fashion was something I loved the most," said Conto. "Since I had been helped, I didn't want to forget all my friends. I wanted to do something that would help them."

While in the program, Conto started her jewelry line "Akawelle" -- which means "Also Known As Love" with the help of Strongheart staff. The necklaces are made out of bullet casings that were shot during the Liberian war.

A Liberian citizen collects and cuts open the bullets that have remained on the ground and then ships them to Conto.

"The money we pay him he uses to help his family," explained Conto.

Wish I could afford to buy one - great cause and innovation.
