Clinton Says She Won’t Stay On for Obama Second Term
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-16/clinton-says-she-won-t-stay-on-for-obama-second-term.html

By Indira A.R. Lakshmanan - Mar 16, 2011 3:54 PM GMT-0400

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said today she intends to complete four years as secretary of state, though she doesn’t want to serve in the cabinet or seek elected office again.

Clinton, in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, said she would not be interested in serving as secretary of state or defense if President Barack Obama were to win a second term, nor would she run for vice president or president.

“I have the best job I could ever have. This is a moment in history where it is almost hard to catch your breath,” she said from Cairo, referring to “opportunities and challenges that we see right here in Egypt and in the rest of the region.”

“There isn’t anything that I can imagine doing after this that would be as demanding, as challenging or rewarding,” Clinton said. “I am doing what I want to do right now, and I have no intention or any idea even of running again. I’m going to do the best I can at this job for the next two years.''

4. Sounds like a good plan to me. She was largely ineffectual, and it seems like a good idea for the
President to inject some fresh blood.

the corrosive radioactive tenure of Condi. Hilary has done a pretty much great job, i some very tough situations.

I was lucky enough to teach foreigners about US law for several years, until 9/11. Foreign nations, many not so close or friendly to us, sent their best and brightest here to learn about . . .us. Our system. Our history, and our legal process. I still maintain contact with many of those folks. The US reputation has blossomed under Hilary. (and Obama). A lot of it, I am sure, has to do with W and Rice being out of office, but also, Hilary brought in pros into the government again, and removed petty politics from State. That was a huge accomplishment.

I say, Kudos to Hilary, and thank you for a very tough job well done.

On edit: I was virulently against her as a presidential candidate. I now admire her professionalism, her hard work, and her smarts.

Thanks, again Madame Secretary.

I'm surprised Hillary doesn't want to head up the Pentagon, considering she sided with Gen. McChrystal in pushing President Obama to have an 80,000 troop surge into Afghanistan for 10+ years.

Obama pretty much guilted her out to take position as "for your country" She's worked hard...let her enjoy her grandkids she wants so much. And no..I wasn't a Hillary supporter but impressed with what she's done. Demanding job.

I didn't support you for President but you are doing an awesome job. No blame toward her or Obama - they were given a huge pile of manure and had to dig out of it.

21. I preferred Hillary over Obama in 2008.
I think she would have won the election if she had been nominated and would have been a far more effective leader than Obama's been thus far. I hope she changes her mind and runs in 2012 - she'd have a much better chance of winning than Obama would.

25. I can't see how anyone could do that job for 8 long years let alone 4...
It's a high pressure job that requires extensive traveling. That has got to take a toll.

Colin Powell didn't stay for all of bush's time in office either.

No one should be suprised by this or read this as negative in any way.

of people who froth at the mouth every time her name is mentioned, Hillary Clinton would have made a superb and very STRONG President.

Strength and Leadership. She would not have been a weak and ineffectual, compromising President.

Her initiatives for women's Rights have been inspiring. The sexist misogynists will continue to take a shit all over her, but the reasonable people of the planet know her and love her.
