25 Percent of Republicans Think ACORN, which Folded Last Year, Will "Steal" 2012 Elections

Lots of interesting insights into the mind of homo republicanus (not that they're homos -- that pretty boy was just carrying their luggage!) in the latest PPP poll (PDF).

This stood out:

Do you think ACORN will steal the election for Barack Obama next year or not?

Think ACORN will steal the election 25%

...............

Think they will not 43%

...........................................

Not sure 31%

Which means that 56 percent think it a distinct possibility that ACORN -- which was brought down last year by right-wing fraudster James O'Keefe's creatively edited video "sting" -- may yet steal the next election for that black dude in the White House.

I'm not sure if you can find a better indicator of the simmering sense of ethnic grievance and irrational fear of the loss of privilege that animate the conservative backlash than this. Oh, and let's not forget the complete ignorance of what's going on in our country. This poll basically shows that those crazy emails your grandmother forwards have an effect.

6. Long story...
Let's just say common sense came and slapped me in the face. I used to watch Fox News nonstop, used to actually like George W. Bush, practically worshipped Reagan, loved the ideas of capitalism, etc. But really what made me change my mind was the nonstop hatred towards different beliefs and cultures, imperialistic tendencies, the theocratic fascism they crave, disdain for the everyday American, and their blatant disregard for constitutional law.

3. And that Acorn, President Carter, and the Community Reinvestment
Act caused the mortgage problems and financial collapse. The Democrats aren't challenging them because many of the culprits are still in charge in this administration's economic policy and the banksters still own Congress.

13. That's a bad plan.
Intelligence tests tend to skew toward rich white people. It'd just be another poll tax, a way of keeping minorities and the poor from voting.

15. In my experience...
... intelligence tests tend to skew toward intelligent people, irrespective of skin tone or bankroll. How does it constitute a tax if it doesn't involve payment?

Anyway, I was being partly jocular. A more reasonable test would be the single question: "What are the names (not the party affiliations) of three people running for X position in your district?" That is if there are three or more. If there are only two, then the voter would have to name both. The logic behind this is that if, after a long campaign featuring TV ads and lawn signs all over the place, the voter still hasn't bothered to make even this minimum effort to find out who's running, he probably doesn't deserve a ballot. Anyway, he could always find out the answer and come back later in the day.

14. 56% Of Republicans Think The Light In Their Refrigerator Stays On All The Time
The other 44% are baffled by how their refrigerators know when they're going to open the door so the light can come on, but just figure it comes on by "Jesus Power."
