Republican Rep: Eleven Year Old Gang Raped Because She Was "Dressed Like a Prostitute"
Edited on Wed Mar-16-11 10:25 PM by RamboLiberal
A Florida state house subcommittee passed a bill — the so-called “Sagging Pants” bill — that would require state school districts to adopt a dress code that prohibits students from “wearing clothing that exposes underwear or body parts in an indecent or vulgar manner.” “This would make for a better school district and more productive students,” said the bill’s sponsor Rep. Hazelle Rogers (D). Referring to a horrific story of an 11-year old girl in Texas being gang raped by as many as 17 men and boys, GOP florida lawmaker Kathleen Passidomo — taking a page from Fox News host Bill O’Reilly’s book — applauded the measure with an offensive justification:

There was an article about an 11 year old girl who was gangraped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed up like a 21-year-old prostitute. And her parents let her attend school like that. And I think it’s incumbent upon us to create some areas where students can be safe in school and show up in proper attire so what happened in Texas doesn’t happen to our students.

Even for a Repub this is reprehensible! The party that never got out of the 1950's, hell maybe the 1850's!

1. She wasn't raped because of how she dressed
She was raped because a pack of men acted like animals.

3. blame the victim, nevermind that she was only 11, and was gang raped...
blame the victim... because CLEARLY the clothing worn by an 11 year old girl rendered all those boys and men totally helpless to do anything other than rape her.
:sarcasm:

4. As the mother of an 11 year old girl, I would like to shove this Repub's head up their ass.
There is absolutely NO justification for what those men did to that poor girl.

8. Worse - Rep is a woman
Edited on Wed Mar-16-11 10:46 PM by RamboLiberal

How a woman could think this!!!!! Yeah she has her head up her butt!

Oh and her excuse was she was only responding to what was said in NYTimes story.

Residents in the neighborhood where the abandoned trailer stands — known as the Quarters — said the victim had been visiting various friends there for months. They said she dressed older than her age, wearing makeup and fashions more appropriate to a woman in her 20s. She would hang out with teenage boys at a playground, some said.

“Where was her mother? What was her mother thinking?” said Ms. Harrison, one of a handful of neighbors who would speak on the record. “How can you have an 11-year-old child missing down in the Quarters?”

And how does that excuse the boys & men??????

10. And--so, if she really were a woman in her 20s, does that make it ok?
It is shocking that we see this kind of statement, even from the wing nuts.

7. Over and over and over again!
We find this mindset where the victim is even further victimized by being blamed for the actions of the criminal, from sex to politics to economic conditions. It is the same tactic and we should wear it down and out as best we can.

The GOP seems to present a very obvious case of projection. For me, this gives some real insight into what is going on in their maps of reality. Without intimating any form of excuse for their behaviors, it seems that these maps represent early abuse, deep confusion, a core sense of insecurity that in turn is expressed as an addictive need for control of others in order feel stable.

They walk on a border, often, where they overtly or covertly show some form of identification with bullies, controllers and perpetrators of crime and sexual abuse. Hence, they are more likely to blame a victim for the crime. While the sociopathic aspect of their type is often obvious, (and their rise to float to the top of the septic tank is based on their aggression, arrogance and lack of compassion) their response and reaction to violence and aggression towards innocents is very, very telling.

Keep in mind, always, the confused insecurity that is at the core of the monstrous and beguiling facade they present as they take various forms of office in their attempt to spread their illness by legislating it into normalcy. That's probably the only way they can cope with their intrinsic pathology. That's why we need to make a stand against these pathetic individuals that are trying to cure themselves by inflicting their stunted, malignant mental maps on our lives, culture, and politics.

It is time to recognize this, and then act upon it.

9. Hold on.
Aren't these the same people who would most loudly support throwing a 20 year old in jail for consensual sex with a 16 year old girlfriend? I'm not debating that point right now just the hypocrisy of it all. It makes no sense if the girl is willing and of legal age in certain western countries the guy goes to jail and it is his fault, and yet an 11 year old innocent girl who may not even know what sex is gets truly raped and it is her fault? That is fucked up and makes no sense.

13. I haven't even read this story - I can't.
But I'll tell you, anyone, ANYONE justifying the gang rape of an 11 year old girl is not fit to breathe air. God help him. And we wonder why women and men don't speak out about rape. It's because the victim is raped all over again by being made to feel they were the cause of their own violent, degrading assault. In the meantime, the real perpetrators get a tiny slap on the wrist.

15. Part of understanding if you can this horrific attack on an 11 yo child
is understanding that it is not the fault of the men or boys who attacked and gang raped this 11 yo female child. It is not their fault in the eyes of these people because she tempted them beyond their limit. They still believe that all female persons are the daughters of the in their eyes the first evil temptress, Eve, who caused Man's fall from grace and so all females are dangerous temptresses. They still look at females as property and want to return all females back to the state of being property. This is just part of the problem. To them no do not mean no. They see abused women as being at fault for their own abuse because if they were submissive enough to their husband (owners) then then husband (owner) would have no cause to beat her into submission. They are even teaching this crap to men going to the Southern Baptist Seminaries. So this evil little temptress got just what she was asking for dressing up like some modern day Jezebel and tempting the poor men and boys past their limit of temptation. Of course the men and boys have no responsibility for their lack of self control...What we expect men and boys to have learned any self-control or respect for laws or for other lesses persons like females. This whole garbage of blaming the victim and claiming that the perps are really the victims of this 11 year old child makes my blood boil.

I think every one of these persons who committed this rape of this child, needs to be sent to the worst prison available, and be sure that the general prison population know just what these creeps did and let nature take its course. The guys in the general prison population do not like these types, and i am sure that there will be plenty of Bubbas there that are just waiting to make these creeps their new girlfriends.

Works for me.

As for the comments about the Souther Baptist I will supply the link to that story.

19. Clothing does not cause rape. The simple fact of femaleness does not cause rape.
You know what causes rape?

....

...

(wait for it)

Rapists. That's what causes rape.

Let's please please stop judging victims, and start seriously asking what's so wrong with our society that rapists are accepted as such a normal fact of life that women and girls are taught to treat them like an unavoidable fact of nature, like tornadoes. It appears this girl wasn't taught to fear "enough." That's bad. What's a million times worse is that there were at least 18 men and boys out there who weren't taught NOT to rape.
