? for DUers....: Do you see all those blogads (including the meat video?) |
|
I have always had google ads turned off with donorship status--for many years. But, those blogads are still there. Which wouldn't bug me so much, except I am really tired of looking at the ad for the "shocking meat" video. Is this true for everyone? I honestly don't recall paying any attention to them until that damned video kept appearing.

But I did something to it so all I see are the words. They don't bother me...
I'm sorry, but I don't remember what I did.

you can usually 'right click' (or option click) the image and choose to block the images from that particular advertiser, but it will reset if you clear your preferences at some point down the road
I have repeatedly chosen to block it

3. You can make it go away. |
|
If you are using Firefox go to View > Adblock and check off the stuff you don't want to see.

5. I use Firefox and AdBlock. I don't see them regardless of my |
|
donor status.
Hey, please, DU is just a business and they're doing what they need to do to succeed as a business. Geez. Nothing personal. /sarcasm
It's not like "our" side sells out for profit or anything.

22. That's my set-up too, although I've seen the ad on my office computer (not FF) and |
|
it didn't bother me. However, I've never gone out of my way to click on a video advertisement - who does? It seems like a pretty ineffective way to advertise to me.
On a side-note, I always wonder how site owners and admins feel when they see people recommending AdBlock; the ad revenue is part of the business, after all. Do they get paid regardless of how many of us actually see the ad?

6. I've watched it -- I'm a veggie/vegan -- |
|
it's horrific - if you anyone wants to eat animals I think the least they can
do is understand what's really going on!!
Always has been thus -- since the first days in the Garden of Eden where obviously
animal-killing-eating bean --
Even still stands holding the APPLE giving you the true message of the Garden of Eden!!

10. It is not all like what is shown in that video. |
|
Animals can be raised and slaughtered in a humane manner. Like it or not, in order for us to live, things "are transformed". Be conscious and be humane. Do you think plants have no feelings?
That damn video is disgusting in the extreme. I have friends who raise chickens and other animals. My grandmother raised chickens and my friends do it with compassion. What was shown in the video is factory corporate farming.

20. Not ALL like that? Some slaughter houses are great places, perhaps? |
|
We have no need to eat animals to live --
anymore than we needed to exploit and destroy anything else in nature to live --
Aside from your grandmother, how many chickens a week would you be slaughtering to eat now?
How many pigs or cows would you wake up eager to kill and cut into sections every day?

|
Edited on Thu Mar-17-11 01:22 AM by FedUpWithIt All
has been driving me crazy.
I haven't been able to afford a star this time and i cannot remember what the ads were like before but it seems that it may be because the ad starts in the center of the screen before moving to the side that it is really catching me attention.
 odd.
Oh, thank you whoever you are!! You've made me tear up. I am touched and grateful!
I hope you've seen this.

on the Home page and I don't think that's exactly what you're referring to.
I use AdBlock Plus w/Firefox and suspect it's doing its job.

but with several recent updates, my adblocker somehow got reset and wasn't blocking blogads. Fixed now (smartass) :eyes:.
