War as static, noise in the background.
We don't talk as much anymore about the wars the U.S. is conducting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some claim there's only the war in Afghanistan, but that's not how it looks to me. The permanent wars we're involved in open their greedy maws and swallow blood and treasure daily. And it's not just Afghanistan or Iraq- it's Pakistan.

Endless war. Endless funding for war. Endless cant about freedom and terrorism. Endless cowardice on the part of our politicians.

1. The War in Iraq is Over
The president is merely doing what he promised in the Af/Pak conflict.

2. No it's not.
you can pretend that it's over but in terms of troops, deaths, and treasure, it's not.

3. People don't understand
the stress we are all living under with the "static noise" of war as a constant backdrop to our lives.
We are living with losses and sacrifices for something we don't even believe in. But of course wars are big biz and important to our "economy."

The background noise, the justifications, the waste and diversion of funds, the "look the other way" messages--all this is taking a toll on our society. Nobody can even IMAGINE not having wars going on. Children grow up thinking it's normal. This is how they want us to feel--to be comfortable with it going on.

We think it's all "over there." It's all right here.

5. "the permanent wars"
the backdrop to our lives...

People don't even feel the outrage anymore.

Thank you for bringing it up.

6. What war or wars are you talking about?
We've lost a mere 9 troops in Iraq so far this year... not counting the few hundred Iraqis killed in the approaching civil war. And the wounded, of course.

We've only lost 57 troops in Vietghanistan so far this year... not counting the few hundred Afghanis killed by our drones and the approaching civil war. And the wounded, of course.

And then there's the money.... $300 Million a DAY in Vietghanistan....$200 Million a day. That's a mere half a $Billion a day.

Shiiiiiiitt... that ain't no war... that's just a little bitty "conflict".

This fucking country is NUTS.
