Instead of going after the public unions |
|
Maybe those who work in the private sector ought to fight to get theirs back. That is all.

1. Yup...been thinking this myself. |
|
The private sector workers gave away their power for the chance to play the stock market.

6. I vaguely remember some serious union busting |
|
going on in the late 70's. My girlfriend worked at Sentry Foods in WI and her union was busted. The argument was that the union drove the prices up. She made a buck more an hour at Sentry than we were paid when we started working that year as surgical techs! And had a nice paid vacation, health insurance, etc.
BTW, that was a thriving store in our area at the time. After the union was gone, Sentry's prices never went down, but their quality and business sure did. I'm not sure if the chain is even still around.
I hope Wisconsin is the start of a national movement to bring back private sector unions. It will take a tremendous amount of education because they were so thoroughly villified in the past. You know the old B.S. (that I recently heard form someone) " No wonder GM went under. They paid $140 an hour for someone to stand all day and turn one screw on an assembly line, thanks to the union." Total bullshit of course, but still out there.
