Planned Parenthood Receives 15% Of Its Annual Revenue From Abortion Services. According to data from the most recent Planned Parenthood Annual Report:

* Abortion accounted for 3 percent of total services (approximately 328,308 of 10,943,609 services)

* At an average cost of $500, total revenue from abortion services was approximately $164,154,000

* Revenue from abortion services was less than 15 percent of the total annual revenue, which was $1,100,800,000

The remaining 85% goes for HIV and STD screening and treatment, cancer screening and prevention, pregnancy tests, pre- and post-natal care for low-income women, low-cost birth control and other services.

For the control freaks, anything even tangentially involved with a woman's failure to carry a fertilized egg to full term is abortion, and must be punished. Three percent is fully sufficient for them to claim that every dollar of Planned Parenthood's budget is therefore "tainted." The aim, of course, is to completely segregate abortion services, then target that for elimination. And there's just enough squishiness on the issue that most people will simply let it go, as if one facet of health care can be neatly cloven from all other facets.
