Dog in Japan stays by the side of its ailing friend in the rubble
Edited on Thu Mar-17-11 11:10 AM by CountAllVotes
It's a universal truth that dogs are man's best friend, but they're pretty darn loyal to their own as well. Case in point: this tear-inducing video, via the website Jezebel, showing a dog, shivering and disoriented, remaining loyally by the side of a stricken fellow canine amid the devastation of the Japanese tsunami.

You can watch the video below (scroll down below this first picture of the dog):

3. I'm bleary eyed and heart broken
some may not understand. I care very much about the people who are suffering, but I also have room to care for the animals.

I posted this to your OP because someone had asked about donating and were looking for a link.
This one seems very good. I hope most of the money donated goes directly to the intended and not overhead and b.s.

We're all in this together :grouphug:

6. thank you for your post and links
and yes, we must never forget the animals. They are an essential part of the world as anything else is and that includes you and me. Thanks again!

4. This dog shows more capacity for love and caring than every
one of the RW-hate radio asshats put together, who are using the tragedy as another opportunity to mock and deride.

5. that is the truth!!!
The dog has something called feelings and love in his heart.

How much of this do we see today?

So much hatred around it is very disturbing to me. :(

7. They were rescued!
"UPDATE: CNN and the UK Telegraph have both reported that the dogs have been rescued since the footage aired, and are both receiving veterinary care; the more seriously wounded dog is at a clinic in the city of Mito, while the protective spaniel-type dog is receiving care at a shelter in the same town."

8. I'm depressed - guess we all are to some
degree.

We can't possibly know what the people are going through over there. It's impossible, until it's 'you' in that situation. Sorry a bit off topic. So many major catastrophes I don't think the word is over used when applied to NOLA, Haiti and now Japan - just to name the most recent.
