What "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer" teaches us...
1. Santa uses slave labor
2. Said slave labor comes up with a new christmas song- sounds good. Santa is not impressed, and expresses his displeasure.
3. Santa is very bossy toward his wife
4. Santa thinks Rudolph is extremely talented, but, Oops- his fake nose pops off. His father is chastised about the "deformity", and Rudolph is an outcast
5. Kids are too greedy to wait until a big storm blows over, they must have their toys NOW.
6. Oh, wait- Santa realizes that the said "deformity" of Rudolph can be used to his advantage- so now all is OK.

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.

(of the reindeer) and you can sing about it.

6. One mor thing...
Santa is VERY behind the technology curve. With a GPS equipped sled and radar, fog should be an obstacle (nb - the FAA has certified Santa's sled this year)

8. Santa Also Didn't Realize . . .
Rudolph is female. Was in Lapland couple of summers ago and the deer herders say that there are no male reindeeer around in the winter months. It's the females who are about foraging, i.e. working. :-)

10. So...if Rudolph was a female reindeer
and so was Clarice, then that means they were lesbians and their relationship was OK.

Well, for everyone except for Clarice's father, but his issue wasn't Rudolph's gender, it was her nose...

9. It taught me that no matter how different you and I are, you probably have SOME redeeming quality.
And that redeeming quality just might save the day when the chips are down.

14. That is the underlying theme...
it is too bad the Hero of Christmas (santa) had to be such a prick, though.

25. And to you, too...
I do hate the holidays, for various reasons, but I like them too. My day was wonderful, got to play with my grandson (who is 5 months old, but was wearing a santa costume- and he loves to bounce) :)

33. I find that to be a very awful, patronizing theme.
Us oddballs should not have to be made to "justify" ourselves in order to not be ostracized and harassed. We should be accepted regardless.

11. I always sobbed uncontrollably...
for the poor misfit toys, and the little dolly who said she had no more dreams left to dream...

Just before Santa showed up and rescued them and gave them to kids who would appreciate them.

That always made me love my imperfect toys all the more.

22. robert l. may worked for montgomery ward as a copywriter
they asked him to come up with a book they could give away to customers and this was it.

"Rudolph first appeared in a 1939 booklet written by Robert L. May and published by Montgomery Ward."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolph_the_Red-Nosed_Reindeer

i think the story behind the story is great.

"In 1947, in an unprecedented gesture of kindness, the company's corporate president, Sewell Avery decided to give the copyright to Bob May."

As you know last night was the annual airing of the 1964 claymation treatment of the gospel's Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer story.

You may receive the normal e-mails protesting the liberal interpretation by directors Kizo Nagashima and Larry Roemer (produced by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr.) Just a heads up.

The depiction of the Abominable Snowman as "against Christmas" is an attack on patriarchal Christian societal teachings. Likewise his carnivorous tendencies serve to paint a negative light on meat eating particularly baby reindeer eating. Notice that he prefers "pork"-see producer credits

According to the scriptures Hermey was not THAT gay.

Okay Yukon Cornelius was but he was Canadian probably French Canadian.

The scriptures in no way promoted the pre-marital flirting (which leads to you know what) between Clarice and Rudolph.

The idea that a secular figure such as Santa Claus could "cancel Christmas" is a direct affront to God on his son's birthday. It is important to note that this whole "non conformity" interpretation was initiated the same year that the Beatles first appeared on TV in the United States...a coincidence?

The following appears in no way or no where in the Bible:
Yukon Cornelius: Whoa. Whoa. Unmush, will ya?

It is commonly accepted knowledge that the "great snowstorm" was a warning from God to all of the sinful behaviour displayed in this story and to imply that a genetic freak could over ride God's will is blasphemous.
