They seem to be ripe for that shit.

Find their list of donors, call them up, and ask for something illegal, immoral, and unethical like lowering the age of consent to ten, a way to import Third World workers and pay them Third World wages in this country, or you want to get strip mining rights for Mt. Rushmore, or make it legal to strip search workers to check for stolen office supplies.

The great thing would be, after doing it a couple of times, they might get paranoid and tell a REAL donor to fuck off, thinking it's a prank.

3. That's because for the most part we are grown-ups.
Stings are a nasty way of doing things and often make the perpetrators look like trolls.

5. In general I agree with that. However, after O'Keefe it gets damned tempting.

After you see the bullies have success a few times it gets damned tempting to do the same. I think a large part of the problem is with our "news" outlets and how little actual investigating they do anymore. They take propaganda that idiots like O'Keefe put out as fact, and fail to investigate our elected officials the way they used to. Watergate would never have been reported had reporters then acted like they do today.

4. Because we have ETHICS!
It's that nagging voice that gets in the way of exposing those jerks.

6. so if cops pretend to be drug dealers to catch bigger dealers it's unethical?
or if they pretend to be child molesters to catch real ones?

10. There is a HUGH difference between outright exposure, and bearing false witness.
Giving raw footage, or full forum additions, is not only fair enough, it is all I will give them.

9. The republicans play the game of politics as all-out war
and we don't. Their tactics over the last 15-20 years have been brutal, but they've also been successful at winning elections. Maybe we should adopt the same mentality.

14. we are willing to go all out. The Dems at the national level think they are playing croquet with
their country club chums while the GOP is playing a chainsaw fight to the death.

17. Democrats have not even come close to touching the edge of what's possible within the law, ethics,
or even within the rules of their respective chambers of congress.

The only time you see them move lickety-split is when they and the Republicans are following the same orders of the rich.

13. These nitwits sting themselves with great frequency
And nobody seems to care. It's the follow-up and the repetition and the echo chamber effect that gets the traction. Now, you may wonder why a liar with an extensive track record of lying gets so much uncritical attention from not only the popular media but even from his victims. Why didn't NPR stand up for Ron Schiller? I have no answer for that.
