NY GOP candidate Jack Davis:" Bus blacks to farms to pick crops" WTF
Edited on Thu Mar-17-11 03:59 PM by upstatecajun
Congressional candidate Jack Davis said in a Republican Party endorsement meeting that Latino farmworkers should be deported and that inner-city African-Americans should be bused to farms to pick crops.

Several sources who attended the endorsement interview confirmed Davis' statement to Buffalo News.

The remark echoes a similar comment he made to the Tonawanda News in 2008.

1. You know before Bush was elected
these people would have been shipped off to the funny farm, but now we elect them to positions of power. What is wrong with us?

3. What a great idea. They can sing Negro Spirituals all the live long day.
This man deserves to be a social pariah, not a Congressional candidate!

11. They are becoming comfortable and letting their real selves emerge...
after Obama got elected, racists went crazier and still got elected to congress, so they feel they are trendy now.

15. In the 60s just before we passed laws on voting and schools they
also ramped up. Their big mouths are like whistling in the dark when you are afraid. They are not easy to stiffle but as we saw in the 60s it can be done,

6. Davis used to be a Democrat, then tried for repub nomination; now going tea party.

Davis, an Akron industrialist, ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2004, 2006 and 2008, and was seeking the GOP nod this time. Spurned by the party, he is now collecting signatures in hopes of appearing as the Tea Party candidate in the May 24 special election.

Through his campaigns, Davis has struck a populist bent, raging against the impact free trade has had on local manufacturing and the effect illegal immigration has had on the country. Sources said he repeated those sentiments in the February meeting with GOP leaders.

"The most racist part was where he said he was busing the blacks in to pick the vegetables," Brown said.

Davis' comment came in response to a question about immigration, a major issue in the rural parts of the 26th District, where many farmers rely on migrant workers -- who are supposed to be on a temporary work visa -- to pick the crops. When Davis made his comment, "the room sort of went silent," Brown said. "It was like: Did I just hear that?

18. Another angle on this...
Farmers wouldn't want inner-city black people... or city white people.... or just anybody picking their crops and tending their trees and whatnot.

Anybody who thinks those farm workers... Latino or not, legal or not.... aren't skilled, is crazy. Experienced farm workers are incredibly hard working and skilled for the various different jobs. Orchard owners don't want the pickers breaking off next year's buds. Cutting asparagus is skilled labor. Stoop labor, but skilled nonetheless.

So... racism aside, this guy is full of shit.

He probably thinks anybody could be a teacher, too.
