How come we can't afford NPR, food for children, healthcare...
...or anything else that is good for society, but we can afford two immoral wars and tax rebates to Big Oil?

Almost makes you think that "for the people" line was just BS.

3. They did not need tax breaks.

However I do need the beer and travel money that is due for the smear done years ago. And they have the extra money to be able to send that.

And they should be taxed more, because consolidations cause problems.

Consolidation of wealth has become a feedback loop that is destroying society.

And the stack overflow that will happen is not good outcome.

4. And endless funds for surveillance
of innocent citizens, how crazy is that?

Hey anyone see the latest Zeitgeist 2011 movie?? It has an amazing ending.

13. HAven't you heard?
His magic wand is broken, and the last time I looked, it was congress who does the legislating, not the president, so you are barking up the wrong tree.

14. He needs to step up
and advocate his own legislative agenda and confront the legislative failures of Congress. He hasn't and likely won't. Seems he'd prefer to prove that a bipartisian leader is really nothing more than a traffic cop trying to corral two contending groups each having their own leaders.

12. I wondered about that in the past particularly when we
were involved in Vietnam. The answer is that we haven't taken our government back from industry and big business yet. We still think capitalism is a religion not an economic system and that socialism is evil. Until we shake off those two beliefs the oligarchies will use those beliefs for their enrichment and our detriment.

15. Our government runs very much like a dysfunctional family budget
We'll call them Jim & Betty. Jim & Betty have 3 kids (teenagers), a mortgage, two car payments, and all the normal expenses any family has , but:

Jim & Betty cash their paychecks & like to party with their friends instead of paying the mortgage or the car payments.

Their kids think there is a college fund for them, but that too has been spent during the years

When times get really tough, they charge stuff on their credit cards, and as they get too full of charges, they transfer balances & get new cards.

We all know how this thing ends, don't we?

17. we can't afford teachers either.
I guess our kids will just have to learn everything on the street.

We in Florida used to say, "come on down", now it's changed to see "Watch us drown".

The entire country has gone bat shit insane.
