Nebraska Bill Would Declare Obama Health Care Void
Nebraska Bill Would Declare Obama Health Care Void

A bill that would declare President Barack Obama's signature health care law unenforceable in Nebraska is set for a hearing Thursday before a legislative committee.

The Legislature's Judiciary Committee will hear the proposal (LB515) by Imperial Sen. Mark Christensen.

The bill would impose a felony charge on any federal or private employee who tries to enforce the law in Nebraska, and a misdemeanor charge for state employees who do so.

....

So, any employer or employee in Nebraska who has the temerity to insist that their 5 year-old child with pre-existing conditions be covered under their insurance plan can be hauled off to jail? Really? This is what they want for the country?

:argh: :nuke: :banghead:

1. I doubt such a law would be legal...
But it does reveal the utter moral bankruptcy of the right.

2. This is exactly what I was thinking! It can't be legal and is sure to cost the state millions$$ to
fight, yet the bitching about the budget shortfalls is nearly hypersonic.

5. This is about 2012 and keeping their base voting for them.
First, there is a drasticly different levels of punishment for the same offense depending on who the person works for. Second, unless the SCOTUS overthrows the law, and right now I don't think they will, they are violating the constitutioanl powers of the U.S. government which has the power to oversee interstate commerce.

4. They're probably trying to force a case to go to SCOTUS soon...
... before any of the Republican 5 are replaced in any way.

6. I agree, but this is a silly law that doesn't challange the legality of Health care,
It makes it illegal for a member of the Federal government to implement a law. Not even the SCOTUS would sign off on that.

Actually, this is a States Rights case.

7. "the proposal (LB515) by Imperial Sen. Mark Christensen"
I'm sure that's probably a town or city in Nebraska, but my 1st thoughts were, "is that what Republicans are calling themselves now? Or maybe he's elected by the local KKK?"
