We received a letter today from the biggest teaching hospital in our area asking for a donation to honor doctors.
In part it reads:I would like to invite you to join me in celebrating these truly special individuals on March 30, National Doctors Day..........Not only will your gift be an encouragement to a dedicated caregiver....
Since almost 20% of our income goes to pay for Medicare and 2 supplemental insurances and we still have to hassle to get coverage this is beyond the pale. Doctors pay more for liability insurance than we get in a year.
Don't know whether to laugh a hugh guffaw at the chutzpah or to cry over another sign of cravenness.

1. Ask what the hospital directors get paid prior to making a donation

I think they're in a better position to make a donation that will actually effect anything or anyone.
