is it politically motivated? Socially, Morally? Ethically?

The video will not load for me, so I do not know.

What I do know, is that 4chan can be a bully pulpit, and if the motivation behind this is simply because they do not like the music, I simply cannot get behind this one...

The big AnonOps are voted on. Have you found evidence that this was voted on?

I see nothing about it on Anon news sites where they usually announce impt. operations, such as http://paper.li/AnonymousPress or http://anonops.blogspot.com ; and there's also usually one or more videos; see, e.g., http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpwVfl3m32w , a good intro to Anonymous. See also http://anonnews.org for a better idea of how they function; here, the most recent "Op" announced is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpwVfl3m32w .

There are LOTS of US and perhaps other disinfo programs going on now to try to make Wikileaks, the Anons, et al. look bad. I'd be very careful about this.

11. That's not a real Anonymous operation

What happened is that there's a game, where the lower-level denizens of 4chan's /b/ board pick a bad YouTube video, and see who can stomach it long enough to watch the whole thing. This time out, it was a video by some lousy up-and-coming female singer.

The game backfired this time, as their trolling of the YouTube video actually generated interest in it, to the point where Daniel Tosh did a Web Redemption with her. Today, she appeared on GMA because her song's actually doing well on iTunes.

So a handful of pranksters, in protest, came up with this Black Friday idea. Even on /b/, a lot of people are scoffing at this idea, saying that it's pathetic how some kids using Microsoft Paint are slapping together "official" Anonymous graphics to announce the "operation". Some Anons are participating "for the lulz", while others yawned and went back to sharing porn images.

tl;dr It's happening, but it's not a real operation, just a stupid prank.

ON EDIT: I just checked /b/ to see what's going on with this. A couple of sample comments:

"Hail the queen."
"Am i the only one who hates this b*tch?"

you know as well as I do that Anonymous is as anons do.

This is as legit an Anonymous OP as any other. If enough people target the LOIC as directed, it will be legit. If not, it won't be.

this isn't *bad* per se. It's just what Anonymous is: a big, many-headed mess that sometimes does useful things and sometimes just fucks with people.

I personally find it more helpful to focus on the good they've accomplished.
