YOUNGSVILLE — A 6-year-old Milton Elementary School kindergartener was killed Monday morning after attempting to get on the school bus and being dragged 20 feet along a rural paved road, authorities said.

Lederion Miller suffered head injuries and died at a hospital, according to Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lafayette Parish school system news releases.

While the circumstances that contributed to the boy’s death remain under investigation, “We have to assume that when the door closed, a piece of clothing or something got caught on the door or the arm (that swings out toward the front of the bus when it makes a stop),” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Craig Stansbury said.

1. Just the other day here in Georgia (not sure of the county),
an 8-year-old boy got off the school bus to meet his mother at the bus yard, and then another bus hit and killed him. Sad!! In this case, a sensor would have made sense.
