OK..I watched the "Meat Video" ad....What's the problem? |
|
You guys know that's how your "meat" is treated. Many people here laugh, and make jokes about those animals being "tasty."
So? You have to see it? Well, damn. I hate it for you. It must suck seeing yukky stuff like that.

2. If you really want to start a flame war, show how animals are killed under Kosher and Halal diets |

11. I didn't really mean it like that |
|
I guess I should have worded it "If you really want to show something inhumane..."
Ah nuts, its too early
Apologies

7. You aren't creating dissent; you are bringing up another topic entirely. |
|
If you want to start a separate thread on why to eat kosher meat, that's understandable.
I am waiting to hear from the folks upset about the meat ad why they find it so upsetting? They have known about this for years...it's not a secret. So why shouldn't DU get some bucks off it?

10. Hmmm the Kosher way to kill a cow is to lock him down, slit his or her throat |
|
Making SURE not to cut any of the nerves so that it can be in the most pain as possible, and then slowly bled out.
Whereas the usual way is with an air pressure gun that shoots a bullet in the brain, killing said cow instantly

4. But, but, but -everybody knows meat comes in little plastic wrappers and fun shapes! |

It's neat and tidy and totally suitable for all audiences.

Marketing has so sanitized and Disney-fied animal products that people are actually offended by the mere act of being asked to consider, simply, what it is.

8. Well, I am a vegetarian and never watch any of those |
|
videos, including PETA's, because I already know and don't want to see it. Years ago, when I was still a meat eater and found out where the veal came from, I swore off veal and calves' liver. Now I do not eat anything with hair, fur or feathers. I do occasionally eat fish and shellfish, but am trying to wean myself off seafood.

9. You know this is a "call-out" to those DUers with whom you disagree... |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-18-11 01:37 PM by hlthe2b
and your derision of those is pretty clear.
Having had a grandfather that raised cattle, having been to slaughter houses, none of this is new to me. But, I agree with those who seek to make this process a far more humane one and though I will continue to each meat on occasion, I would never attempt to shame or humiliate those who see this process as one they can't live with--thereby chosing to avoid eating meat.
On edit, OP has indicated a very different intent for what was posted. Thanks for that clarification and I hope he will do so here as well.
