CITY AND REDWOOD CITY

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A
WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS
AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING IN AN
INTERIOR HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET. USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO
COVER YOUR BODY AND ALWAYS STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.

15. Unusual? That would be a big fat yes.
I have lived here 50 years and canot remember ever getting an actual tornado warning. Severe thunderstorm and flooding, yes. Tornado? That's a new one for me.

23. I remember one in San Bruno like 10-15 years ago.
It was barely an F1 though and I don't think it caused much damage.

(03-18) 11:32 PDT BELMONT -- The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for several cities in San Mateo County, saying a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a twister is bearing down on the area.

The service issued the warning at 11:02 a.m. for areas including San Mateo, San Carlos, Redwood City, Millbrae, Foster City, Burlingame and Belmont. A twister was spotted in Belmont at about 11:11 a.m., moving northeast at 40 mph, the weather service said.

The agency said the warning would extend through 11:30 a.m.

...or north of it all my life. I have never heard a tornado warning issued.
