Topic: if you google "manning"+"wikileaks"+ "faggot",
Edited on Sat Dec-25-10 11:26 AM by Smarmie Doofus
you get over 200,000 hits.

This fact is not w/o significance in terms of :

1. his treatment by the gov't.

2. his vilification in the media.

3. the level of animus displayed toward him by some DU posters. ( Let alone the rest of the internet; read it if you wish.)

That's the topic.

Discuss.

1. If you google "Peyton manning" + faggot, you get over 299,000 hits.
"Faggot" is a pretty common term of insult, no matter what you do, and lots of sites thrown in common google search terms to get higher rankings and more hits.

4. True. But....

1. Peyton is infinitely more well known.

2. Not homosexual.

Therefore... there's no significance to the fact that he's called "faggot" by more people that can work a computer....... no significance, that is, beyond the generalized, mindlessly homophobic barbarity that plagues American culture.

The google count for Bradley is of another character in and of itself.

Here, take a look:

3. I got over 400,000, and your post is number 1 on the results I got.
He should be getting a medal for exposing war crimes, not locked in solitary.

The US has turned into a full-fledged fascist shit-hole.

5. His actions are roughly analogous to Ellsberg's.
Ellsberg is revered... rightly.... by those who know who he is.

He was also pilloried by the political morons and neanderthals of that era.

But it ... i.e. the *character*, the "unhinged" quality of the contumely directed his way was *nothing* approaching the level of demented attacks leveled against Manning.

We live in a different, *dumber* era; this is incontestable.

But there's something more at work here. I can *feel * it.

There is something about Manning in particular that drives them absolutely NUTS.

What is it?
